Outdoor Education Programs

For 40 years, Camp Olympia has been a facility for the Houston Independent School District Outdoor Education Center and now other schools and districts have the opportunity to experience an Outdoor Education Program here at Olympia.

Camp Olympia is situated on 101 acres of private land in the piney woods of East Texas, with much of the land bordering Lake Livingston. This location is an ideal environment for experiencing nature through forest, lake/pond, and ecology studies as well as enjoying outdoor activities.

Activities – There is something for everyone at Camp Olympia. Would your school group enjoy a game of softball, sand volleyball, or flag football… or all three? No problem! Olympia has fields and courts available for use for any type of game. Looking for team-building? The variety of low elements on the course is designed to promote teamwork and communication. Plus, the high ropes elements allow students to swing through the trees in our Giant 3-Person Swing in our Ropes Course or climb the rockwall. Want to enjoy traditional camp activities, such as horseback, fishing, archery or riflery? Olympia also offers canoeing, jumping pillow and mini-golf too. It is endless fun for youth and leaders alike!

Accommodations – Cabins are setup for group fellowship, with 14-20 bunks in each. Cabins are organized in clusters, with some clusters having 2 cabins and others having 4 cabins. Girls’ cabins are on one end of camp with boys’ cabins on the other. All cabins have heat and air conditioning. Indoor meeting space, including audio and visual equipment, is also available. Camp Olympia could provide bed linens and towels if requested.
